I just got some new yarn and a knitting set in the mail from Knit Picks! I had been wanting to make a shawl from Alpaca wool but hadn't found anything I liked yet.
So here I have some Lace Weight yarn, made from 100% baby Alpaca. So soft and very fine. It will be my first time working with yarn this fine so I am a bit nervous. However, it feels good and seems to be of good quality, so I'm sure I'll be able to get a good knitted shawl from this.
I ended up buying a set of interchangeable knitting needles, from sizes 4 to 11 and two cords each of 24" and 30" lengths. The needles are metal tipped, allowing for quick knitting. The cords unwind easily, and the needle tips screw on quite securely.
So using these two items, I'll be knitting my first triangular shawl. I have knitted some small ones in the past to give it a go using my own pattern and it didn't come out too bad - I was just using the wrong weight of yarn and sized needles. I'll be tracking my progress on this blog here. If successful, I'll write up the full pattern to share on Raverly!
